Mission:
Major Panda seeks to excite and educate adults with and without developmental disabilities about the meditative and expressive nature of the fiber arts; utilizing techniques both traditional and modern to promote independence, artistic exploration, and community integration.
About Us:
Major Panda is a new collective of fiber artists with various abilities in North Portland. We believe that it is important for everyone in the studio to develop their own unique talents and skills and our interests and products reflect that. Weaving on looms, designing and making clothing, building intricate fiber sculptures, and preparing to teach in our Living Arts Workshops are all common sights here. We also have three fiber goats just outside the studio and we are learning to hand card, dye, and spin their wool to create yarn that was made completely on our land. We strongly emphasize the importance of creative uses for all of the materials that come into the studio and recycle everything we use.
